A Lewis acid is any substance which can accept a pair of non bonding electron. A good example of a Lewis acid is hydrogen ion, H+. A Lewis base on the other hand is any specie which can donate a pair of electron. Thus, in Lewis theory of acid and base reaction, bases donate pairs of electrons and acids accept the pairs of electrons. Ammonia is a good example of a Lewis base.
You are watching: Lewis acids and bases are most closely associated with which process?
B) Electron transfer
According to Arrhenius concept, a base is defined as a substance which donates hydroxide ions
According to the Bronsted Lowry conjugate acid-base theory, an acid is defined as a substance which donates protons and a base is defined as a substance which accepts protons.
According to the Lewis concept, an acid is defined as a substance that accepts electron pairs and base is defined as a substance which donates electron pairs.
Thus Lewis acids and bases are most closely associated with the process of Electron transfer.

Answer from: toxsicity
Lewis acids and bases are most closely associated with ELECTRON TRANSFER. A Lewis acid is defined as as a chemical specie that can accept an electron pair from a Lewis base to form a Lewis adduct while a Lewis base is defined as a specie which can donate an electron pair to a Lewis acid or an acceptor compound. Thus, Lewis base and acid has to do with electrons transfer.

The formation of aqueous ions

The formation of lactic acid in human muscles is closely associated with intense exertion or activity, during which aerobic respiration that uses oxygen to produce energy cannot be able to match the demand of energy by the muscles. The muscles therefore resort to anaerobic respiration for energy where pyruvate becomes a makeshift hydrogen acceptor rather than oxygen as happens in aerobic respiration.Pyruvate accepts a hydrogen from NADH and becomes reduced to lactate or lactic acid while NADH is oxidized to NADwhich is crucial in the formation of energy that is then stored in the form of ATP which is used to re-fuel the muscles to keep them going.
