Back in the day, Doug Williams came to Salem as a convict who was also a singer on Days of our Lives. He met his future wife Susan Seaforth Hayes on the set. Their characters fell for each other but had a fraught romance and he was on and off the soap for many years.
How Long Have Doug & Julie Been Married on Days of our Lives?
The NBC soap duo of Doug Williams and his spouse Julie Williams have been married for far fewer years then their real-life counterparts Bill and Susan Hayes. First, Doug married Julie’s mom. So, it wasn’t until 1976 that Doug and Julie were first wed. She later divorced him.
Then, Doug and Julie married again on Days of our Lives in 1981 and divorced five years later. Their last – and lasting marriage – happened in early 1994. Since then, Julie Williams is seen on the soap more often than her husband, but Doug Williams is back now and then.

In their real lives, Bill Hayes secretly married Susan Seaforth in October 1974. Then, Days of our Lives fans clamored for their characters to marry too. The actors have been married nearly 47 years. Their characters soon celebrate 28 years of wedded bliss.
(Mario Lopez celebrated their marriage above – but his math was a little off… ours is correct!)
Let’s hope we see lots more of Bill Hayes and his real-life wife Susan Seaforth Hayes as Julie Williams and her husband Doug Williams for years to come on DOOL.
