Returning to the United States on an Expired U.S. Passport
If you are overseas and your passport expired on or after January 1, 2020, you may be able to use your expired passport to return directly to the United States until December 31, 2021. See this page for more information.
Renew your current passport or emergency passport, if possible.

The Consular section in Tegucigalpa and Consular Agency in San Pedro Sula processes United States passport applications for U.S. citizens abroad. Currently, processing time for applications from Tegucigalpa is between 10 and 16 business days and the Consular Agency in San Pedro Sula 4 to 5 weeks. The Consular Agency in San Pedro Sula is open by appointment only as of June 1, 2021.
Forms must be printed on separate sheets of paper; do not print the form on front and back of the same sheet. Complete the mailing address field with a Honduran address, either your home address or the address where you are staying. All forms must be completed (but not signed) before your appointment.
