On Alone Season 5 Episode 2, the remaining nine contestants concentrated on food.

If they can”t secure food, they won”t make it.
Some of them got pulled out last time they were on Alone because of hunger and starvation, so this time they”re determined not to let that happen.
Like Larry, who was on Alone Season 2. He tapped out on day 64 because he couldn”t stand the hunger anymore. When he went home, he sharpening his skills and was super excited to konk a chipmunk on the head on day four.
Let the protein consumption begin!
Booyah baby! Booyah! AHHHHHH!
He has a nice setup with his twig and leaf dome shelter and his open fire for cooking and boiling. The thing about Larry is his temper. No sooner did he mention that he had mentally prepared for his second run at Alone, he lost his marbles.
If he doesn”t keep calm, and his temper under control, he”s not going to last very long. He has to keep his wits about him, especially considering it sounds like he has quite a big pack of wolves somewhere around his camp.

Brad heard wolves too, so it made me wonder if he heard the same ones as Larry. Maybe the wolves aren”t that close to the camps, and their howls are just carrying over the open plain.
Poor Brad. He only made it one day on Alone Season 4, but it wasn”t his fault.
If you remember, Alone Season 4 was when they incorporated teams into Alone for the first time. The teams were dropped off in different spots. One team member was to make camp, while the other traveled to their location. If one tapped out, both had to leave.
Brad was teamed up with his brother, who suffered an ankle injury on the first day, so Brad didn”t have the opportunity to show how he was made.
This time he wanted to challenge himself.
I definitely notice myself getting a lot skinnier. I can, like, kinda see my ribs now, where I couldn”t before.
Unfortunately, he didn”t have success in the food department, so Brad tapped out on day seven.
It”s a shame because I loved his little cabin. It looked like Lincoln Logs!
I wish he would”ve hung in there, and tried some other techniques to eat, but seven days without food was too much for him.
I guess he either wasn”t watching when Dave was on Alone Season 3 or maybe he did, and it scared Brad into leaving. Dave had plenty of food to eat during Alone Season 3, but he was so worried about running out, he didn”t eat enough and was starving himself as a result.

Dave ended up getting pulled because he was dangerously thin. The medical team had to rush him to the hospital.
Not this time!
Dave”s been gathering bugs and catching fish, and, most importantly, eating! He”s the first one this season to go out hunting with a bow. It was awe-inspiring that Dave shot a grouse on his first time out. He must”ve really practiced his skills at home.
The thing that cracks me up about Dave is his mental attitude. He”s incredibly positive! That”s going to carry him far.
If you wanna get to know the land, hunting is the way to do it.
I was surprised to find out when he left Alone Season 3 that he quit his job and moved into his truck. I guess that explains why he didn”t find it necessary to build a shelter yet.
That decision is probably unwise considering the dangerous wildlife in the area. On the other hand, if the wildlife is going to get you, twigs, leaves, and a tarp aren”t going to stop them.
Speaking of impressive attitudes, Britt was funny chasing around grasshoppers.
He too ended his stay on Alone Season 3 because of food, so that”s where he is concentrating his time on his new mission.
Plus, he mentioned previously he didn”t have support from his family. That”s extremely important in this quest!
While you”re out there by yourself in the wilderness, barely surviving, and going crazy from loneliness, sometimes the only thing that keeps you going is knowing your family has your back.
That actual wasn”t bad. What did it taste like? Like an unseasoned, very very charred hamburger.
This time, he and his wife are on the same page. That”s going to help him as he munches on crispy grasshoppers and watches the stars!
Sure, he messed up when he left those five fish in the little wading pool, but did you notice how he took it?

He learned, and he got over his loss quickly.
